wins college's fi rst
men's national
golf championship
Colton Kalkanis was named the 2012 PING
Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA)
Golf National Champion, posting a fi nal round of
a 1-under 71 at the tournament that took place at
the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club.
The fi rst-year Golf Facilities Operation
Management student is the fi rst Georgian male
golfer to win the title.
"I had a great time and I'll never forget it," said
Kalkanis. "It's defi nitely the biggest tournament I
have ever won."
Kalkanis says coach Katie Ferguson's cool, calm
and collected style helped him on the greens.
Ferguson had plenty of fi rst-hand experience
to draw from as the CCCA women's national
champion in 2000 and 2002.
"At nationals, I remember her telling me to
stay calm, to stick with it and that everything
happens for a reason."
