Reinventing myself has been the most challenging and rewarding decision I have made. I left my career of more than 20 years in the financial industry and forged ahead into the world of jewellery. After completing the two-year Jewellery and Metals program with honours and receiving various awards, I went on to graduate from the Goldsmithing program in 2011. Entrepreneurship is a huge component of the program and I am now an entrepreneur with my own studio in Midhurst. Inspired by people, places and experiences, I create striking and ethereal jewellery pieces that possess passion and exotic undertones. I chose my program because when my sister was younger she was unable to talk and express her needs – that is, until she received help from a speech language pathologist and a communicative disorders assistant. I wanted to be one of those professionals. Georgian allowed me the flexibility of taking a year of core courses from the Developmental Services Worker and Early Childhood Education programs. This built my knowledge base and gave me a good start for entering the Communicative Disorders Assistant graduate certificate program.
