ENTREPRENEuRIAl AluMNI Victoria Martin evans international Business Management, 2010 european regional Senior Brand Manager, Mattel A long time ago, Victoria Martin Evans made it a personal goal to move to a new country and truly experience the international economy. "Being in a new culture forces you to be innovative. It forces you to continuously adapt and improve," says the Canadian marketing executive, who is based in Spain. Since graduating in 2010, Martin Evans has been intrapreneurial in leveraging her internship at one of the world's most famous toy manufacturers, Mattel, to rise to a management role within the company. Beginning in Toronto, she was exposed to the U.S. market and the flow of information and products across the border. It was here that she launched the popular Monster High doll in Canada. She then transferred to London, England where she expanded her scope to have contact with the product facilities in Asia and Australia. Now, as European Senior Brand Manager in Barcelona, she manages the performance, product flows, pricing and marketing plans across 11 European markets. "We are constantly innovating our products as trends, themes, technology and consumers change," she says. "When I think about ultimately who my consumer is, I am inspired by children. Their imagination and 'anything is possible' mentality helps put things in perspective." What is Martin Evans' advice to others wanting to succeed in their career? "Get out there and try new things to find out what you love doing." 2013 Premier's Awards nominee "Being in a new culture forces you to be innovative." 16 | GeorgianView 2013/14
