19 ENGINEERING REGISTER NOW – 705.722.1516 OR 1.888.812.7511 marinetraining.ca ENGINE ROOM RATING (EXAM PREP) This course is intended for mariners with a minimum of six months engine room experience and will prepare them to challenge the TCMSS Engine Room Rating exam. Delivery will be a combination of theory and practical skills, e.g., Safe Working Practices, engine-room watch-keeping procedures, communication skills, terms used in machinery spaces, the names of machinery and equipment, basic environmental protection, engine-room alarm systems. Other Transport Canada requirements include: Medical certificate, MED A1, B1, B2 or STCW Basic Safety and STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Marine Basic First Aid. ENGINE ROOM RESOURCE MANAGEMENT "Human error" can be a major factor in maritime accidents. This four-day course is aimed at improving safety and efficiency on board. This course high in participation with group discussions, case studies, role playing and engine-room simulation as the focus.
