7 MEDS AND STCW TRAINING REGISTER NOW – 705.722.1516 OR 1.888.812.7511 marinetraining.ca MEDs AND STANDARDS OF TRAINING, CERTIFICATION AND WATCH-KEEPING TRAINING BASIC SAFETY – MED STCW BS (SUBJECT TO TCMSS APPROVAL) This course includes theory and practical hands-on training in survival, personal safety, social responsibilities and firefighting. Attendees will gain proficiency through practical training exercises which include the use of fire extinguishers, firefighting equipment, and firefighting breathing gear; the use of life-jackets, survival suits and inflatable life rafts. PROFICIENCY IN SURVIVAL CRAFT AND RESCUE BOATS OTHER THAN FAST RESCUE BOATS – MED STCW PSC (SUBJECT TO TCMSS APPROVAL) This course will develop knowledge and skills to safely launch and use survival craft and rescue boats. Training items include: principles of survival, evacuation and helicopter rescue; actions to be taken when aboard a survival craft. Also included are practice drills in launching and recovering lifeboats, launching life rafts and donning personal survival equipment. ADVANCED FIRE FIGHTING – MED STCW AFF (SUBJECT TO TCMSS APPROVAL) This course is intended for officers and crew designated to control firefighting operations on large domestic vessels. Advanced firefighting tactics and leadership skills are developed through live firefighting exercises, lectures and hands-on demonstra- tions by experienced ship's officers and firefighters. At course completion, seafarers will have an understanding of the conduct of firefighting training for crew members; Emergency Response Team leadership; management and control of injured persons; incident recording; crowd management and search and rescue techniques. REFRESHER SERIES – BASIC SAFETY, PROFICIENCY IN SURVIVAL RAFT AND RESCUE BOATS OTHER THAN FAST RESCUE BOATS, ADVANCED FIRE FIGHTING This refresher series includes Basic Safety Refresher (MARI 0188), Proficiency in Survival Raft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats Refresher (MARI 0189) and Advanced Fire Fighting Refresher (MARI 0190). All prerequisites apply, see above.
