RADIO COMMUNICATIONS 20 2016 MARINE CERTIFICATION AND REGULATORY TRAINING marinetraining@georgiancollege.ca RADIO COMMUNICATIONS RESTRICTED OPERATOR'S CERTIFICATE – MARITIME COMMERCIAL (ROC–MC) This course is intended for mariners serving on compulsorily-fitted commercial ships within the North American A1 sea areas. It is compliant with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch-keeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended in the 1995 (STCW 95 Regulation IV/2). The material presented in this course covers the scope of the examination for the Restricted Operator's Certificate – Maritime Commercial (ROC-MC) for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). ROC-MC CHALLENGE EXAMINATION The ROC-MC Challenge Exam is only available to experienced mariners who hold a ROC-M. Participants are supplied the course material in advance. It is recommended that each individual spend at least six hours becoming familiar with the training material. On the day of the workshop, the instructor will deliver a three-hour seminar followed by a one-hour written test and a 15-minute (per participant) practical exam. GMDSS – GENERAL OPERATORS CERTIFICATE (GOC) This training course is intended for seafarers who require a Global Maritime, Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) General Operators Certificate in accordance with Section A-IV/2 of the STCW Code. Course content is a combination of theoretical delivery and practical operation of varied communication equipment. NOTE: Candidates must bring one (1) citizenship/passport photograph for their GOC certificate.
