The program This program focuses on creating functionality in the Anishnaabemowin language and preparing students to design, develop and implement community language programs in Aboriginal communities and organizations. As a student in the program, you'll study the language as a whole, including the history, changes and current issues affecting Anishnaabemowin today. Incorporating the Ojibwe circular world view, you'll learn to speak the language by first learning about your immediate environment, then progressively expanding outward to the community, including ceremony and cultural values. Structured activities provided outside of class give you the opportunity to practise your speaking skills. You'll examine the role and importance of language in the community and how to plan successful, sustainable language programs.
