The program This one-year program will train you to work in professional kitchens regionally, nationally and internationally. You'll learn fundamental food knowledge and develop skills in food preparation and presentation that prepare you for lifelong career success with strong industry connections. You'll practise professionalism, culinary and management skills, safety and sanitation, nutrition, product knowledge and identification while applying skills in a hands-on learning environment. This program provides the in-school portion of the Cook Apprenticeship program of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Graduate career opportunities • Jobs in hotels, resorts, camps • Variety of restaurants from specialty and gourmet to fast food, private clubs, banquet and catering facilities, marine cook and institutional food services Admission requirements OSSD or equivalent with • Grade 12 English (C or U) Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older) and home school applicants may also be considered for admission. Eligibility may be met by applicants who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED and equivalency testing.
