The program
This one-year program will train you to work in professional kitchens regionally, nationally
and internationally. You'll learn fundamental food knowledge and develop skills in food
preparation and presentation that prepare you for lifelong career success with strong
industry connections. You'll practise professionalism, culinary and management skills,
safety and sanitation, nutrition, product knowledge and identification while applying
skills in a hands-on learning environment. This program provides the
in-school portion of the Cook Apprenticeship program of the Ministry of Training,
Colleges and Universities.

• Grade 12 English (C or U)
Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older) and home school
applicants may also be considered for admission. Eligibility may be met by applicants
who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED and equivalency

Applicants who have taken courses from a recognized and accredited postsecondary
institution and/or have relevant life/learning experience may also be considered for

Graduation requirements
Students are required to complete 10 mandatory courses • 2 communications courses •
2 general education courses to be chosen from the college list
