BACHELOR OF
EDUCATION
ONE YEAR, CONSECUTIVE
York University's Faculty of Education offers a B.Ed. program at the Primary/Junior (JK-6) and
Junior/Intermediate (4-10) level in Barrie, at Georgian, for students who have obtained an approved
undergraduate degree. In celebration of the culture and traditions of the land where we are
teaching, the Barrie site offers an infusion of Indigenous education across the curriculum and a
course dedicated to issues in Indigenous education. Barrie site teacher candidates participate in a
one-week practicum experience in a First Nation, Métis or Inuit (FNMI) school, or a classroom that
reflects FNMI perspectives. Graduates are recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers for an
Ontario Certificate of Registration.
BACHELOR
OF
EDUCATION
My year in York University's Bachelor
of Education was an amazing
experience and I can honestly say
I miss the time I spent there. The
course instructors were always there
to help us in an open and friendly
manner, and my fellow teacher
candidates and I have become very
fond of the staff. I think it is extremely
beneficial to have university programs
at Georgian because it gives more
people the opportunity to further
their education and reach their career
and life goals.
