9 Homestay The Georgian College International Homestay program is an exciting opportunity. Students in the program will experience Canadian lifestyle and establish relationships within the community. The Homestay Program provides safe, caring and interactive hosts for international students to improve their language skills and cultural awareness. Homestay hosts provide necessary household items, including a furnished bedroom for the student. Most homes are located close to public transport or within walking distance of the campus. Full Homestay The host provides a variety of nutritional, well-balanced meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) every day – including weekends. Shared Homestay The student shares the kitchen with the Homestay host. The student buys, prepares and cleans up after his or her own meals. The Homestay host helps the student become familiar with the kitchen, explaining use of equipment, where to find grocery stores and cooking supplies. On-campus residence (hostel) The Barrie Campus student residence provides students with many opportunities to get involved in their college community and enrich their academic experience. Live in a private room with a double bed, desk, chair, TV and closet. Share a bath and a lounge with one other student. Our residence is bright, modern and Wi-Fi connected. You must stay two full semesters starting in September to qualify to live in residence. Privately run on-campus residences are also available at the Orillia and Owen Sound campuses. Off-campus residences (rentals) There is a wide selection of accommodation in the Barrie Campus area and Georgian's international students add diversity to the community. Georgian Green Student Residence: Apartments are situated within five minutes walking distance of Georgian College. These four-storey residential buildings house 257 students and have been specifically designed to meet the needs of students attending Georgian College.
