Innovation lives here Currently, there are more than 260,000 job vacancies without qualified Canadian workers to fill them. As a leader in the postsecondary system, Georgian College is committed to addressing these shortages and helping to develop a strong, more efficient labour market. This increasingly knowledge-based economy calls for people with innovative, creative thinking. This economic shift affects all businesses and is opening up entirely new sectors and career fields. At Georgian, we work closely with industry and community partners to ensure our curriculum meets the needs of our evolving economy. We are committed to producing graduates who are able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and who can turn ideas into economic realities. That means equipping students with the tools and abilities to become not only job seekers, but also job creators. That is why we are incorporating elements of entrepreneurial knowledge and practice into all our Georgian College programs. Innovation is a key part of everything we do at Georgian – and it's an important skill that we want you to learn and value. Two busy Georgian hubs are our Centre for Applied Research and Innovation and the Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre. Centre for Applied Research and Innovation CARI is a member of the Colleges Ontario Network for Industry Innovation and the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs. Selected research activities are funded by either provincial or federal sources. Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre Research indicates that many of today's professionals will change jobs 12 times in their career. Why not develop and start your own business, and be your own boss? The Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre at the Barrie Campus has the mission of inspiring innovation and helping fledgling entrepreneurs be successful. If you have great ideas and are passionate about wanting to run your own business, then these programs are right for you. If you already have a diploma or degree, consider our Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management graduate certificate program. It provides you with the practical skills and knowledge that you need to get your own business up and running – and growing. Because one size does not fit all, the centre provides a variety of options: • Full-time programs aimed at those wanting to start their own businesses • Entrepreneurship courses integrated into non-business programs – because more and more grads are starting their own businesses The Centre for Applied Research and Innovation (CARI) at the Barrie Campus helps business and industry solve their technical challenges.
