• Royal Canadian Navy needs to grow by 3,000+ personnel to meet its defence mandate, and partnerships with marine training institutions is a vital part of this process. Our partnership will create clearer education, training, and career pathways to enlistment and greater awareness of marine programming, align training with Navy occupations, and build on existing programs such as the Non-Commissioned Member Subsidized Training and Education Plan. These developments position Georgian to contribute to Canada's defence readiness and workforce development. Two publicly funded initiatives make it easier for those already in the military to upskill: • Education Expense Reimbursement Program 35 for CAF primary reservists now covers up to 75% of eligible expenses for approved courses (up from 50%), has an annual maximum of $7,500 (up from $2,000) and an almost-4X lifetime maximum ($30,000 up from $8,000). • AI tool funded through previously mentioned grant (page 23) in the report that will translate military training and experience into Georgian credits. The City of Barrie, as part of its $50-million incentive to fast-track defence investment, is investing $2.5 million in Georgian over the next two years to strengthen our defence-focused education as a military-connected college. 36 Our president was also humbled to be named a member of The Grey and Simcoe Foresters Honourable Guard.
