ENGINEERING, ENVIRONMENTAL AND SKILLED TRADES OTHER SKILLED TRADES COURSES GeorgianCollege.ca/PTSKILLEDTRADES Air Brake Z Endorsement The Ontario Ministry of Transportation requires drivers who operate vehicles with air brakes to have the air brake endorsement (Z) on their current driver license classification. Students learn how to operate air brake systems safely and to identify faults. Upon successful completion of both the written and practical tests, student information is provided to MTO through its online information system. Successful students must go to a DriveTest Centre, within six months, and have the Z endorsement added to their license. A full G license is required to take this course. DRVR 0036 18 HRS AutoCAD Introduction This hands on course introduces the student to AutoCAD. Topics covered include screen display controls, menu structure, point entry methods, drawing setup, draw commands, edit commands, object selection, annotations, basic dimensioning and plotting. CMPS 0326 24 HRS AutoCAD Interpreting Drawings This course is a continuation of AutoCad Introduction (CMPS 0326) and Introduction to Blueprint Reading. The main emphasis is on the creation of Assembly and Detail Engineering drawing using advanced AutoCad techniques. The course will build on the techniques learnt in CMPS 0326 and Introduction to Blueprint Reading. Upon completion of this course the student will be capable of producing accurate and professional Assembly and Detail Engineering drawings. CMPS 0327 24 HRS Cross Connection Control This course meets the cross-connection testers training standard outlined by the OWWA (using the AWWA curriculum of training). A final tester's examination is included in the course fee. TECH 0349 36 HRS Hydrogen 101 - Navigating the Energy Revolution (Micro-credential) This program provides an exploration of hydrogen as an energy carrier. Participants delve into the fundamental concepts of hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and applications across various industries. Participants are equipped with a foundation in the guiding principles of hydrogen as a fuel and feedstock, enabling them to understand its role in the transition to sustainable energy. TECH 0654 l 24 HRS Introduction to Solidworks This hands on course introduces the student to 3D modeling using Solidworks. Topics include correct setup of model files, sketching techniques to produce both revolved and extrudes bodies, single body models and assemblies, 2D engineering drawings created from 3D models and editing of existing models. TECH 0584 24 HRS OWWA Tester Recertification This course meets the cross-connection tester recertification criteria outlined by the Ontario Water Works Association. Upon successful completion of this course, cross connection control testers are eligible to take the OWWA test and practical evaluation to renew their OWWA tester certification. TECH 0471 16 HRS Safe Lifting – Marina Operators This theoretical course provides an overall framework of safe lifting for marina operators, supervisors and employers to work within legislative requirements in the Province of Ontario. Course content covers industrial cranes, lift trucks, mobile boat hoists and hydraulic trailers. Lifting tasks using forklifts, cranes, boat hoists and travel lifts will be discussed. Training in hazard recognition in various workplace scenarios is emphasized. NOTE: Employer must supply site-specific training, as required by the definition of competency, on all varied and unique lifting devices found in the field. TECH 0501 12 HRS Welding, Introduction Theory and hands-on instruction lead to safe practice at the basic level of oxy/acetylene cutting, brazing arc and MIG welding.
