TEACHING AND TRAINING ADULTS (electives) GeorgianCollege.ca/PTTATA Teaching and Training Adults − Group Process Students develop skills to facilitate co-operative/collaborative learning and group process in an instructional environment using techniques and strategies for effectively learning in groups. Students apply positive communication skills that encourage active participation in group settings. Students must complete two electives to achieve program completion. TATA 0029 l 6 HRS Teaching and Training Adults – Tools for In-Person Teaching/Training Students explore a variety of teaching and training tools ranging from the traditional to the latest technologies, which may be used to enhance teaching techniques in an in-person environment during the instructional process. Emphasis is placed on the appropriate selection and use of these tools. TATA 0030 l 6 HRS Teaching and Training Adults − Coaching Students are introduced to a practical coaching model that examines the principles and techniques of coaching and their application in the workplace and the classroom. TATA 0032 l 6 HRS Teaching and Training Adults − Developing a Course or Training Plan Students engage in an instructional design process to assist in preparing a syllabus based on a course outline and to develop a training plan for the workplace. Key instructional design elements are addressed and applied. TATA 0034 l 6 HRS Teaching and Training Adults − Facilitation Skills This module provides an introduction to facilitation skills for supporting adult learning. By providing structure, processes and frameworks, facilitators enable others to reach their individual or group goals. TATA 0035 l 6 HRS Teaching and Training Adults – Tools for Online Teaching/ Training This module introduces students to methods and strategies for selecting online tools and applications to support learning. Students gain hands-on experience using a variety of digital tools. TATA 0036 l 6 HRS Teaching and Training Adults – EDI&B Teaching Today's adult learners bring a variety of backgrounds and experiences to the classroom. In this module, students examine the implications of a modern classroom on learning and development. Practical applications for fostering equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging of learners are discussed. TATA 0037 l 6 HRS Teaching and Training Adults − Workplace Learning Students discuss workplace learning and development competencies as they relate to organizational and individual performance. Students are introduced to an instructional systems design model to assess needs, identify appropriate training solutions, develop learning outcomes, content, training activities and assessment.
