What you NEED TO GET IN Admission requirements are different for each program. Find program-specific requirements on pages 52 to 87 of this book and online at GeorgianCollege.ca/full-time-programs. You'll also need to take the following steps to get into Georgian: STUDENT CATEGORY BASIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS High school students You need to complete your high school diploma. If you receive a conditional acceptance, make sure you meet requirements before starting at Georgian. Requirements could include passing courses, maintaining your grades, and more. If you don't obtain your high school diploma, visit GeorgianCollege.ca/ACP to check out Georgian's Academic and Career Preparation program. Mature applicants If you'll be 19 years of age or older as of the first day of classes at Georgian and don't have a high school diploma, you can apply as a mature student. Here are ways you may meet requirements: • Complete your Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) certificate through Georgian's Academic and Career Preparation program. Visit GeorgianCollege.ca/ACP for details (not applicable to degrees). • Take courses at an Independent Learning Centre or another learning site recognized by the Ministry of Education. • Take an English or math equivalency test through GeorgianCollege.ca/testing-services (not applicable to degrees). • Take equivalent credit courses at Georgian or another recognized college or university. Applicants from postsecondary institutions When official transcripts from college-approved institutions can't be used to meet entrance requirements for you, equivalency testing may be available for certificate or diploma programs. In these cases, the Communications Placement Assessment (CPA) tests for both mathematics and English will be considered. For equivalency in other subject areas (Section 2.7 Admissions requirements course equivalencies) or for degree programs, you must complete course work prior to being admitted. Challenge exams for some science courses may be available upon request. Programs may consider acceptable scores from applicant completion of ACT, CLT, and SAT for admissions assessment. Home school applicants If you have been educated in a home school system at the Grade 12 level, you may apply to Georgian College for postsecondary programs. All specific course requirements for the program must be met. For some admission requirements, you can write a test that meets the minimum requirements. Visit GeorgianCollege.ca/testing-services to book your test. When official transcripts from college-approved institutions cannot be used to meet entrance requirements for home schooled applicants, equivalency testing may be available for certificate or diploma programs. English as a Second Language applicants • Three years in an English-speaking high school in a country where English is a primary language (four years for Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing and Pharmacy Technician. Study must be in Canada only for Pharmacy Technician). • A full year in an accredited postsecondary program in an English-speaking country where English is the primary language (not applicable to Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing and Pharmacy Technician). Visit GeorgianCollege.ca/admissions/academic-regulations/ for details. • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or Canadian provincial equivalent) and English credit (Grade 12 U, M or C) issued by a public or Catholic school board (not applicable to Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing, Pharmacy Technician and Addictions: Treatment and Prevention). • Provide proof of graduation from one of the authorized Georgian College partner school pathway programs (not applicable to Pharmacy Technician). • Must have completed two years of study at a secondary private school in Ontario and received an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and English credit (Grade 12 U, M or C). Georgian degree applicants You'll need at least six U- or M-level high school credits, including one English and mathematics course (not applicable to mature applicants).
