2024 PREMIER'S AWARDS
For many professionals approaching retirement, it's a time when they start reflecting on their careers, enjoying the fruits of
their labour and planning how to spend their newfound downtime—but not Holly Martin. At age 59, she boldly decided
to leave a lucrative career in telecommunications to finally follow her longstanding passion for helping vulnerable people.
She took a leap of faith, enrolling in Georgian College's Personal Support Work (PSW) program and began charting an
exciting new path forward.
A dramatic career transition and return to school like this can be daunting for anyone at any age, but this was even more
so the case for Martin, who suffers from short-term memory loss due to a car collision earlier in her life. But thanks to the
incredible support she says she received from her program coordinator, instructors and Student Success during her time
at Georgian, she overcame her challenges and fully immersed herself in all the program had to offer—and she even made
the Dean's list.
