Nursing program (class of 1998, hon. degree 2015), RPN, RN, MA FCAN
Dianne Martin has been a nurse since 1979, graduating first as an RPN and then as an RN
in 1998 with a diploma in nursing from Georgian College. She obtained a BScN from York
University in 2007 and a Masters of Leadership from Royal Roads University in 2011.
Over 27 years, Dianne provided direct care to Ontario families, working in childbirth nursing
(attending over 3000 births), the operating room, and postpartum care, advocating for women
and their families.
Her leadership roles have included Director of Professional Practice at an Ontario hospital and
Senior Policy Analyst with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Currently, she serves as
CEO of the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario, where she has been recognized
for her strong, compassionate connection to front-line nurses her ability to build bridges of
collaboration among disparate groups.
In 2009, she received the Georgian College Board of Governors Distinguished Alumni Award
and in 2016, Dianne received the Premier's Award for college graduates whose achievements
have positively impacted Ontario. In 2020, she became a Charter Fellow of the Canadian
Academy of Nursing.
Dianne has also volunteered on Georgian's Alumni Association Executive Council, including as
chair, and served on the Board of Governors.
She is the daughter of a nurse and mother to a nurse, holding all those who care for others in
the highest regard.
