Electrical Engineering Technology – Automated Systems program (class of 2007) , C.E.T, ME
Rick Black is the owner of Black Controls Company Inc. which is based in Barrie, Ontario. With
a keen eye for detail and a passion for excellence, Rick leads Black Controls toward its vision of
developing a world-class team to integrate world-class automation.
He grew up in Barrie and is a 2007 graduate of the Georgian College Electrical Engineering
Technology – Automated Systems program. He started his career at a local automation
company where he earned his Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation, became
a licensed Commercial Electrician, and obtained his Masters Electrician certification.
In 2019, he founded Black Controls Company Inc., and now enjoys employing and sharing his
knowledge and experience with Georgian College co-op students and graduates.
Outside of work, Rick has a passion for cars and enjoys working on and racing his car with the
BMW Club at racetracks in Canada and the United States.
