25 RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP | GeorgianCollege.ca A new approach to cyber defense Georgian is a recognized leader in experiential learning, and students can take what they learn in class and apply it in research and innovation projects with community and industry partners. Miran Qarachatani, a student researcher with Georgian's Research and Innovation team, works closely with other students and faculty to develop software for White Tuque, a cyber security company. He's been involved in the entire process, from designing the application's architecture to choosing the right technologies, programming, styling the interface, and testing. Mom builds new career with research and innovation Sandy Khanjaro longed for a position in her field and enrolling in Georgian's Electrical Engineering Technology program opened new doors for her future. Her journey has been one of adaptation and resilience, and she had a unique opportunity to work on industry research projects with Georgian's Research and Innovation team. Thanks to this experience, Sandy landed a co-op placement at Honda of Canada Manufacturing. This experience has been very valuable for me. Collaborating with a startup is exciting because things move quickly and we're constantly learning. Since we're building the application from scratch, I can be creative and come up with solutions. This flexibility has taught me so much and made me more confident in taking on bigger projects.
