Indigenous students will thrive academically and personally throughout their education journey at Georgian. Our campuses will be sites of transformative change where everyone is empowered to support work related to decolonization, reconciliation, and Indigenization. The Georgian College Coat of Arms design includes several Indigenous elements | The centre wave which includes the colours of the Métis sash, a white pine tree and roots intertwined on the back of a turtle, and the wind-blown white pine, known as the Tree of Peace in People of the Longhouse culture. Our dedicated Indigenous services: • Community liaison officer. • Visiting Elder program. • Niwijiagan (peer mentors). • Getsid (Indigenous student counsellor). • Indigenous student advisors. • Wiidookdaading Indigenous Resource Centres at our Barrie, Midland, Orillia and Owen Sound campuses.
