4 GEORGIANVIEW FALL 2023 GREETINGS Aaniin, She:Kon, Nakurmiik, Tanshi, which means hello in Ojibwe, Mohawk, Inuktitut and Michif (the traditional language of the Métis). This fall, Georgian celebrated more than 3,300 graduates from over 130 market-driven programs across our seven campuses and Georgian@ILAC. While this is normally a momentous occasion – and one of my favourite times of the year – it was extra meaningful as we reached a milestone in Georgian's history: having graduated 100,000 students! Since 1967 and our first cohort of 101 students, our alumni have taken the world stage and each made a mark, transforming our workplaces and communities as innovators, changemakers, leaders and compassionate global citizens. Reaching 100,000 alumni is more than a moment in time for Georgian – it's the headline to a much greater story about the dreams we've helped to realize and the collective impact of our graduates, which continues to have immeasurable ripple effects. One of our most recognized alumni, Jon Montgomery (class of 2000, hon. degree 2010), Olympic gold medalist, and host of The Amazing Race Canada, delivered an incredibly inspiring message via video to our 2023 graduating class and another at Georgian's Ignite the Night: An Unrivaled Gala Experience, presented by BMO in November. In this issue of GeorgianView, he talks about why giving back is so important to him. In these pages, we also honour our seven Premier's Awards nominees. These remarkable alumni have used their college education as a springboard to create an improved economy and better society. They have each demonstrated that amazing things can happen when you put your skills, natural talent and Georgian education to work for connection and purpose. As we celebrate the contributions and achievements of our growing alumni community, we're taking the opportunity to share some of their unique journeys to success. In this edition of GeorgianView, you'll be inspired by their courage, perseverance, and incredible spirit, together weaving a compelling narrative about the role Georgian plays in transforming lives. I want to thank our donors and friends for your ongoing support. We wouldn't have arrived at this moment in history without you. I also extend heartfelt appreciation to our alumni community for making all of us proud and for demonstrating what's possible for our students when you pursue your passions and put your education to work for the greater good. Chi-Miigwech. With gratitude, Kevin Weaver President and CEO Kevin Weaver President and CEO Greetings from Kevin Weaver, President and CEO, Georgian College
