21 GEORGIANVIEW FALL 2023 You might know Nadia George (class of 2009) as an advocate for clean drinking water, environmental and mental health equity, as well as an actress and media personality. But she proudly adds 'Georgian grad' to her list of accomplishments, having graduated from the Social Services Worker program in 2009. Nadia was born and raised in Canada of mixed European and Native lineage with her Indigenous roots tied to the Nahua and Maya nations of El Salvador and is committed to Indigenous issues. Her acting credits include being in Episode 9 of Eli Roth and Zak Baggan's Horror series, Curse of the Dybbuk Box. She can also be seen in numerous films and television series including History Erased, Along the Water's Edge and Uncolonize. Her portrayal of Jolene in the award-winning film, Her Water Drum, earned her the distinguished award of Achievement in Acting for a Leading Role at the Los Angeles Skins Film Festival. Nadia also works as a therapeutic wellness coach, having recently been involved as an on-set therapist for the television series Little Bird about the Sixties Scoop. The Georgian College Board of Governors honoured Nadia with a Distinguished Alumni Award in 2020, and in 2021 she won a Premier's Award in the Creative Arts and Design category. by Georgian and the premier "Knowing that Georgian has been there to support me… It's amazing.
