19 GEORGIANVIEW FALL 2023 Addison Wallwin (class of 2015 and 2019) is a proud alumna who excelled as a student at Georgian in a variety of impressive ways, and that continues today in her role as an active volunteer. In 2016, the Georgian College women's golf team won the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golf National Championship in P.E.I. and Addison walked away with the tournament's individual gold medal. It was a highlight of an already stellar college experience for Addison, who was named Georgian's Female Athlete of the Year for two consecutive years. In 2016-2017 and 2017-2018, she won Georgian's Female Academic and Athletic Excellence Award. She was also named a CCAA All-Canadian, CCAA Academic All-Canadian and to the OCAA All-Ontario team. "The five years I spent at Georgian were some of the best years of my life. I have nothing but good things to say about this college," says Addison. "I've made friends for life. I had amazing teachers that I still keep in touch with." Her first co-operative work term in the Business- Accounting program took her to Wallwin Electric Services Limited, which was followed by a co-operative work term at the BDO Canada LLP Barrie office. She then returned to Wallwin for a final term. There, she worked closely with the controller at the time, learning the day-to-day requirements of that job. She now serves as Wallwin's controller. "I'm extremely happy to still be involved with Georgian," said Addison, who co-chairs two signature college events: the successful Ignite the Night: An Unrivaled Gala Experience presented by BMO and held Nov. 3, 2023 and next year's Golf Classic, which will be held in May. She also continues to have a firm grip on her golf game, having served as the ladies' captain at the Barrie Country Club in 2022. "The five years I spent at Georgian were some of the best years of my life. I have nothing but good things to say about this college." | The story behind the number: Addison walked away with a gold medal in the CCAA Golf National Championship in P.E.I. in 2016.
