Ishaan Sachdeva (class of 2021) sees change as a
constant.
The Georgian alumnus and current student strives to
find ways to make the world a better place.
"In high school, I discovered my passion for volunteering
and empowering others, which ignited my leadership
journey. This passion guided my college selection
process, leading me to Georgian," he says.
His favourite memories are his election as president of
the Georgian College Students' Association (GCSA)
when he was a student in the Business and Management
program in 2021, followed by his re-election the
following year.
Ishaan's impact on the college and student body is vast.
Since coming to Georgian in 2019, he's been involved as
a volunteer in the Segal International Centre, as well as
the GCSA.
Prior to becoming president, he was the GCSA's vice-
president of changemaking and was also co-founder
of Enactus Georgian, a student-led entrepreneur club
in Barrie. Under that umbrella he was at the forefront
of several initiatives, including "Say My Name" to
promote proper name pronunciation, "Georgian 101",
in ongoing studies
a guidebook for new students, and "Planet Heroes",
a project teaching youth about the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals.
For eight months during the pandemic he co-hosted
"The Growl", a 26-episode student VLOG series aimed
at bringing students together during a time of isolation.
He also launched a fundraising campaign for the
COVID-19 response efforts in India in 2020.
Ishaan is now working on his Honours Bachelor of
Business Administration (Management and Leadership)
at Georgian. As for the future, Ishaan likes the path
he sees immediately before him, including his recent
participation on Georgian's Alumni Association
Executive Council.
