DIVERSITY, INCLUSION AND BELONGING IN THE WORKPLACE GeorgianCollege.ca/PTDIBW Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging three-part series – Module 1: Cultures of Belonging Despite good intentions of management and workers to create equitable and safe workplaces, many employees continue to feel left out, disrespected, and exhausted by the daily experience of coping with micro-aggressions. It's clear, now more than ever, that good intentions are not enough. In this module, participants take the first steps toward creating workplaces that embrace and uplift diverse lived experiences. They learn to engage all employees to contribute their best, and work across diverse identities to create lasting, transformative change. This module is one of three that make up the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Series micro-certificate. Modules must be completed in sequential order, as each module builds on the skills in the previous module. BUSN 0240 | 8 HRS l Fee: $250 Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging three-part series – Module 2: Identities and Diversity Patterns The second module in this three-part series continues the conversation on belonging in the workplace, with an exploration on how experiences of belonging are connected to socio-cultural identities. Participants consider the ways in which they have experienced marginalization or contributed to the marginalization of others in the workplace. These experiences are countered with belonging strategies, such as inclusive language, micro- affirmations, amplification, and the formation of alliances to create meaningful change. These strategies empower participants to contribute to more equitable, inclusive workplaces for all. This module is one of three that make up the Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging in the Workplace micro-certificate series. Modules must be completed in sequential order, as each module builds on the skills in the previous module. BUSN 0238 | 8 HRS l Fee: $250 Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging three-part series – Module 3: Courageous Workplaces In the final module in this series, participants learn how to foster a culture of equity, inclusion and belonging and create a personal plan for sustainable, ongoing action in the workplace. Further strategies are explored for engaging in courageous conversations, acting in alignment with equity-oriented values, and committing to allyship efforts across socio-cultural identities. Participants are encouraged to develop short- and long-term strategies to support their own growth as allies, expand their capacity for being comfortable with being uncomfortable, and recognize that each of us has a role to play in creating lasting transformative change in the workplace. The third module in this three-part series makes up the Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging micro-certificate series. Modules must be completed in sequential order, as each module builds on the skills in the previous module.
