Automotive – OMVIC Certification
OMVIC's certification course covers the laws,
regulations and practices governing the purchase,
sale and lease of motor vehicles in Ontario. This
course is mandatory for those individuals looking
to pursue registration with OMVIC. There is
a thorough explanation of the Motor Vehicle
Dealers Act (MVDA) (the key statute governing the
registration of dealers and salespersons) and the
role of the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council
(OMVIC) in the administration of that Act. Students
study MVDA, general regulations, Code of Ethics
regulations, key principles of the Sales of Goods
Act, Consumer Protection Act, MVDA advertising,
contracts, disclosure and rescission. Individuals
who pass the course and become registered with
OMVIC may use the designation CALE – Certified
in Automotive Law and Ethics.
