Safe Lifting – Marina Operators This theoretical course provides an overall framework of safe lifting for marina operators, supervisors and employers to work within legislative requirements in the Province of Ontario. Course content covers industrial cranes, lift trucks, mobile boat hoists and hydraulic trailers. Lifting tasks using forklifts, cranes, boat hoists and travel lifts will be discussed. Training in hazard recognition in various workplace scenarios is emphasized. NOTE: Employer must supply site-specific training, as required by the definition of competency, on all varied and unique lifting devices found in the field. A final tester's examination is included in the course fee. TECH 0349 | 36 HRS | BA Fee: $1,642.23 OWWA Tester Recertification This course meets the cross-connection tester recertification criteria outlined by the Ontario Water Works Association. Upon successful completion of this course, cross connection control testers are eligible to take the OWWA test and practical evaluation to renew their OWWA tester certification. TECH 0471 | 16 HRS | BA Fee: $910.54 Machining, Introduction Learn the basics of safely operating basic machine shop equipment including lathes, drills and saws through theory and hands-on learning in the machine shop. This is the perfect course to upgrade your skills or for the hobbyist to learn machining techniques. You'll acquire knowledge in machine shop safety, measurement techniques and basic machine operation. TECH 0597 | 30 HRS | OS Fee: $661.71 ODP Certification This course is for students who have never been issued an ODP card (or the card has expired) by the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute (HRAI) or the Ministry of Environment (MOE) and are seeking certification. The course deals with the environmental issues regarding ozone-depleting substances used in refrigeration and air conditioning systems to comply with federal and provincial regulations. Course materials are provided. NOTE: if the expiry date on an ODP card has passed, MOE requires the individual to take the full one-day course again. The Ontario ODS regulation stipulates that ODP cardholders must renew their cards by contacting their office every five years.
