Communication skills, including delegation, motivation, conflict resolution and empowerment, will be discussed. Students will have the opportunity to practise these skills and others through online discussions and work-related projects. ISO 9000 receives particular attention. A continuous improvement project relevant to their actual work environment will allow participants a meaningful opportunity to combine theory and practice. Participants learn how various team structures can help organizations make the most of their human resources. TECH 0527 | 30 HRS Fee: $533.25 Supervisory Skills for Business and Industry Today, effective supervision is very challenging. The successful supervisor needs a wide range of specialized skills, including time management, effective communication, customer relations, and how to measure work appropriately and ensure compliance with complex government legislation. This course helps you develop these skills and an awareness of the multi-faceted approach to leadership demanded in the modern business environment. Topics include the supervisor as a member of the management team, establishing and maintaining rapport with your employees and workplace legislation. What information about the changes that impact us all will help the supervisor deal with the issues and questions that arise daily in the workplace? These changes may be global concerns about outsourcing, organizational concerns about new technologies, or personal concerns about job security and a career path. Understanding the process of change, how to manage it for yourself and how to help others through it. TECH 0529 | 30 HRS Fee: $533.25 OTHER SKILLED TRADE COURSES GeorgianCollege.ca/PTSKILLEDTRADES Air Brake Z Endorsement The Government of Ontario requires drivers who operate vehicles with air brakes to obtain an air brake endorsement (Z) on their driver's licence. This course has been approved by the Ministry of Transportation. A valid Air Brake Endorsement Certificate will be issued upon successful completion. DRVR 0036 | 18 HRS | BA, OS Fee: $470.29 Working at Heights (WHSC) Falls from heights are a major cause of workplace injury and fatality in Ontario. This course is designed to help protect workers in Ontario from such tragic outcomes. Students learn to readily recognize fall hazards and identify the correct control measures to protect themselves via classroom learning and hands-on training using personal fall prevention systems. NOTE: Hard hat, safety glasses and work boots are required. TECH 0645 | 6.5 HRS | BA, MI, MU, OS Fee: $214 Working at Heights Refresher (WHSC) In this working at heights refresher course, students review basic safety awareness, employer and supervisor obligations, and safeguards and safety procedures designed to protect workers. Students also have a practical review of the functionality and safety aspects of fall protection equipment and systems. Successful completion of this refresher training re-validates working at heights training compliance for three years. NOTE: MOL Working at Heights wallet card with ID number must be available for verification by the instructor.
