15 GEORGIANVIEW SPRING 2023 PREMIER'S AwARDS HEALTH SCIENCES Jocelyn Leworthy | Early Childhood Education (class of 2015) Jocelyn is unrivaled in her work advocating for organ donation, visiting high schools to share her journey and empowering children with emotional and scientific knowledge. Jocelyn is an award-winning child life specialist, dedicating her career to supporting children and families impacted by cancer. In 2021, she received the 40 under 40 in Cancer award for her work with children living with cancer. Living her beliefs, Jocelyn is also a two-time live organ donor. CREATIVE ARTS Don Komarechka Advertising (class of 2009) Don is an internationally recognized nature, macro, and landscape photographer whose work has been featured around the world, including with the Royal Canadian Mint and The Nature of Things with David Suzuki, the BBC, Discovery Channel and National Geographic. Now living in Bulgaria, Don is using his work to raise awareness and support individuals displaced by armed conflict. Most recently, one of Don's images was chosen to adorn US postage stamps as part of the "Life Magnified" series. Past President and CEO receives Lifetime Achievement Award During a special ceremony at the Colleges Ontario Higher Education Summit on Nov. 28, 2022, the Hon. Jill Dunlop, Minister of Colleges and Universities, presented past Georgian College President and CEO Dr. MaryLynn West-Moynes with a Lifetime Achievement Award. MaryLynn retired from Georgian in June 2022 after a decade of service and an exemplary 37-year career in postsecondary education. The award is granted each year to those who have made a significant contribution – and enduring difference – to Ontario's college system. Dr. West-Moynes dedicated her career to increasing access and attainment rates, meeting the evolving needs of students, communities and employers, and driving economic growth through entrepreneurship and innovation. Among many leadership roles, she was President and CEO of Georgian College and Mohawk College, Vice President – Academic and Chief Operating Officer at Durham College, and a strategic architect in the creation of Ontario Tech University.
