PROFILE
Is there a particular class project or assignment that stands out?
There have been a lot of projects that have helped me practice and really
solidify everything I've learned. They range from 30-minute exercises to
semester-long endeavours. My favourite has been the latter, especially
when I get a chance to be creative and include skills from previous
courses at the same time. I've designed so many things, from websites to
AI predictors, and even a smart beverage coaster. One project that was
special to me was a phone app that helped users collect and organize
their gardening notes. It was something that I was looking for as an app,
and I still have friends and family using it today. It's also been a real hit
with job interviewers!
What has your experience been like
so far at Lakehead-Georgian?
My experience so far has been great. I've
been able to learn a lot of programming
languages and their best practices, as
well as build an impressive portfolio for
job interviews. The courses are pretty
accumulative, so there hasn't been one that
felt unnecessary. I'm still using knowledge
from my first-year classes, three years later.
There have been some tough challenges, but
I've found the teachers are always happy to
work with me for accommodations or extra
help. They are enthusiastic and always make
an effort to get to know everyone, thanks to
the small class sizes.
