CONVOCATION 2022 | GeorgianCollege.ca 61 GEORGIAN AWARDS DON GORDON HONOURS BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, JUNE 2022 Don Gordon attended London Teachers' College and later received his Honours Degree in Business Administration from Ivey Business School. He has been a teacher, accountant and General Manager of a livestock exporting company. For 34 years he was President and CEO of Atlas Block in concrete products manufacturing. He served as a board member and chair of numerous industry associations. He was the first recipient of the Hall of Fame Award from the National Concrete Masonry Association and received the Honour Roll Award from the Barrie Construction Association.Don served as an industry representative on the CSA 165.1 Standards committee for many years – monitoring and revising standards for concrete masonry. Don has spent decades giving back to his community through volunteer leadership in community chambers, agencies and associations. This includes countless hours devoted to Georgian as a member of the Board of Governors, including a term as Chair. In his personal time, Don enjoys gardening, playing piano and acting as cheerleader for his grandchildren. JANE (BROWN) JACKSON HONOURS BACHELOR OF SCIENCE – NURSING, JUNE 2022 Jane (Brown) Jackson's family connection to Georgian College goes back to 1967. Her father, Arch Brown, strongly supported Georgian's first location in Barrie's Wellington Plaza and her mother, Helen, took a course there. Helen and Arch Brown were well-known and respected Barrie philanthropists. Jane continues their family tradition with generous donations to numerous charities and community agencies. She is one of Georgian's most loyal supporters – giving financially, and offering her time by volunteering on Georgian event and campaign committees. During her career, Jane worked in computer support for Canadian Tire Corporation then worked in corporate travel and contract administrative support. She underwent a tracheotomy following complications during a thyroidectomy. Living with a trach has caused her to reflect on peoples' response to it and sparked a desire to educate others. Jane has created a Facebook group and website for Canadian adults with trachs. Her goal is not to offer medical advice, but to provide moral support. In her personal time, Jane enjoys travel, genealogy and photography. PAUL LARCHE HONOURS BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, JUNE 20222 Paul Larche is President and CEO of Larche Communications Inc. (LCI), a media company and digital branding agency. He has worked in the broadcasting and marketing business for over 46 years. Paul started his radio career in Timmins at the age of 15, eventually becoming general manager of Telemedia Network Radio. He then set out on his own and purchased five Ontario radio stations. Under Paul's leadership, his stations won 25 awards and raised more than $5 million for community causes. Since selling the stations, Paul and his daughter continue to operate Larche Ditigal, providing digital and branding services. Paul is a past member and Chair of the Georgian College Board of Governors. He has served on several radio industry boards and committees. He's been the recipient of numerous community awards and was inducted into the Ontario Association of Broadcaster's Hall of Fame in 2018. He remains an entrepreneur at heart and is an active angel investor. Paul and his wife Lawrene have five children and one grandchild.
