60 CONVOCATION 2022 | GeorgianCollege.ca Board of Governors' Honorary Bachelor of Applied Studies Degree 2022 recipients JIM BERTRAM HONOURS BACHELOR OF POLICE STUDIES, JUNE 2022 Jim Bertram is a retired Deputy Chief of Police for Peel Regional Police and former Director of Public Safety for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority. He also managed his own company, jbertram ltd, a consulting firm focused on client needs for sensible, effective, and efficient solutions in security management. Jim was also the Executive Advisor to the Board of Directors, Risk Management, Greater Toronto Airports Authority. Jim is a former member of the Georgian College Board of Governors including a term as Chair. He served on countless committees including finance and audit, policy and by-laws and University Partnership Centre governance. Jim was also Chair, Colleges Ontario, Governors Review Committee. Jim has been active on other local and national committees including the Blue Mountain Community Policing Committee, Ontario Winter Games Security Committee, Privy Council Advisory Committee on National Security, Canadian Airports Council Security Committee and others. GISELLE BODKIN HONOURS BACHELOR OF COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGY, JUNE 2022 Giselle Bodkin graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Western University. She later received an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Windsor and then completed her CA/CPA designation. Her work has primarily been in public accounting where she is responsible for assisting entrepreneurial clients with taxes, accounting and general business advice. She also works on municipal and not-for- profit audits. In 2021, Giselle was appointed Chief Inclusion, Equity and Diversity Officer of BDO Canada LLP, where she works with a committee to set the strategy to improve diversity in the firm. Giselle is a member of the advancement committee at Georgian College, where she established and chairs the Women's Intuition program to help women in financial need receive an education. Some of the students who received these scholarships may be graduating here today. Giselle has a wonderful husband, is the mother of two amazing daughters and is blessed to have her father who is still very active at age 91. In her free time she loves to play golf, or cottage with her family. GEORGIAN AWARDS BRIAN DAVENPORT HONOURS BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, JUNE 2022 Brian Davenport began his education in a one-room schoolhouse that included eight grades. He has an Honours Business Degree from the University of Guelph, and continues to complete post-graduate courses in business and law. As a Senior Wealth Advisor and Portfolio Manager with RBC Dominion Securities, he is recognized as a top advisor with Canada's leading wealth management firm. Brian leads a team of professionals in providing comprehensive investment, corporate, estate and financial planning services. Previously, he built global expertise in the areas of sales, commercial banking and business development. Brian is an active community member, agriculture enthusiast, and past Chair of the Georgian College Board of Governors and numerous other community organizations. He is a graduate of the Advanced Agriculture Leadership Program that included an international study tour of China and Hong Kong, exposing members to a wide variety of issues, organizations and governments to prepare them for future leadership roles. Brian and his wife Susan live on a 150 - acre farm, and have four grown children and nine grandchildren.
