8 GEORGIANVIEW SPRING 2022 NURSING CAMPAIGN Georgian College Alumni Association invests in the future of nursing Georgian's Alumni Association Executive Council (AAEC), representing over 90,000 graduates, recently announced a major investment in the nurses of tomorrow. The alumni association donated $100,000 to the Frontline Support: Health-care Heroes Closer to Home campaign, which is raising funds to renovate learning spaces, purchase cutting-edge equipment and establish new awards, scholarships and bursaries to benefit the Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing degree program that is launching in September 2022. "This investment is a way for our alumni members to give back to our college and help train the next generation of nurses that study at Georgian," says Arjun Batra, class of 2007, and chair of Georgian's AAEC. "The alumni association sees this donation as a way to thank the thousands of alumni who have been working steadfastly on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic since it was first declared more than two years ago." "It's so inspiring to see our alumni community come together to give so generously to our Frontline Support: Health-care Heroes Closer to Home campaign," says Dr. MaryLynn West-Moynes, President and CEO of Georgian College. "The need for nurses in our communities is acute; donations like this will ensure our future nurses have every opportunity to study and build their careers locally." Georgian has more than 10,000 alumni working in the health-care sector who have graduated from Health, Wellness and Sciences programs. | Pictured left to right: Georgian President and CEO Dr. MaryLynn West-Moynes, Georgian Alumni Association Executive Council Chair Arjun Batra (class of 2007), Frontline Support Advisory Group member (Simcoe County) Debbie DeCaire, Frontline Support Advisory Group Co-chair (Simcoe County) Sybil Taylor, nursing student Graciela Herrera, and Associate Dean – Nursing Programs Dr. Sara Lankshear. | Scan this QR code for more information on Georgian's Frontline Support campaign and how to give.
