6 GEORGIANVIEW SPRING 2022 RESILIENCE RESILIENCE Nursing alumna stands resilient Robin Trumble (class of 1998) had no idea that her home was about to be destroyed as she lay down for a nap before her nightshift in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) on July 15, 2021. She had barely closed her eyes when a devastating tornado whipped through Barrie's south-east end, hitting Robin's house and taking her hard-earned Georgian credentials with it. "It suddenly went silent, like the sound had been sucked out of the room," she says. "When it hit, everything went green. It was shaking the whole house. You could just hear glass breaking everywhere." After the tornado passed, Robin surveyed the damage. "When I opened my closet door, I could see the sky," she says. "It took 75 per cent of the roof." The closet was where Robin kept her most cherished mementos, including the diploma she earned as a mature student after graduating from Georgian's Nursing program 24 years ago. "My diploma and my award were part of the things that I lost. I graduated with honours, and I got the RVH Nursing Award for clinical and academic excellence. I was very proud of that," she says. When she realized they were gone, Robin contacted the Alumni Engagement Office. Staff went into the archives to reprint her documents. Robin was thrilled Georgian could help. | Georgian replaces the credentials that Robin lost after her home was hit by a tornado in 2021.
