34 GEORGIANVIEW SPRING 2022 BUSINESS Anna Sinclair (class of 2006) doesn't mind admitting that when she learned she was named one of Canada's most powerful women, she cried. "[The 2021 Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award Winners by Women's Executive Network] signifies so much more than an accolade," says Anna. "It recognizes the success of a mom-owned company, how far we have come, and that moms are powerful. It signifies that busy moms like me can do this too and drive measurable impact." Her company Total Mom Inc. is an online media brand and powerful platform for mom entrepreneurs. The network shares the voices and stories of diverse women and ensures they are seen and heard. Anna openly shares tips around how she launched and grew her business to achieve success while raising two boys, to inspire moms to dream big and go for their aspirations. Total Mom business programs are designed to empower women with ambitious visions and help them navigate and overcome barriers and challenges they face as busy working moms. "You are not meant to do this alone. Moms deserve a quality network that stands for their personal and professional success," adds Anna. Her Georgian education provided the foundation for her own success. A Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees certificate led to degree studies in psychology. After graduation, Anna put her event training to work starting The Total Mom Show, what she calls, "a Alumna, mom and entrepreneur – a powerful combination cheeky spin-off of a baby show, except putting the focus back on mom." Like many businesses, her successful events were suddenly on hold when COVID-19 hit. "The festival used to bring over a thousand people together, and going online was the only option," says Anna. "Vendors and sponsors were in the same boat. I had to find a way to create transformation online in a very saturated market." Building on her own experience as a mom and entrepreneur, Anna launched the online Canada's Total Mom Pitch and The Total Mom Business Summit. "Each year over 700 Canadian small businesses apply for the $30,000 Total Mom Pitch grand prize and business accelerator, and access a vibrant two-day digital business summit that features recognition awards, fireside chats, workshops and networking," she explains. At the same time, Anna is guided on her own entrepreneurial journey by mentors at Georgian's Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre. "Every successful person has a mentor or coach," she says. "I've had invaluable help and advice on everything from finance and taxes to protecting intellectual property. They are a big part of my success. I am truly grateful to Sara Bentham and her leadership." | Anna Sinclair of Collingwood is founder and CEO of Total Mom Inc.
