JOHN DI POCE SOUTH GEORGIAN BAy (SGB) CAMPUS
Lynn Hynd
celebrated
for nearly
two decades
of service
Lynn Hynd, Campus Manager, John Di Poce South Georgian Bay Campus (SGB),
retired on Oct. 1, 2021 after nearly 20 years of service to the Georgian community.
She joined Georgian in 2003 and accepted the role
of campus manager in 2004, and from the very early
days was a driving force at the John Di Poce Campus,
which serves the South Georgian Bay (SGB) region.
Before moving to the current location, the SGB
Campus had been in nine different locations, with
Lynn leading three of these transfers, before its tenth
and final location at 499 Raglan Street. A tireless
advocate, she participated in countless information and
fundraising events, championing the introduction of
the new campus, and the day it officially opened was
a day Lynn will always remember with great pride.
When Lynn started at Georgian, the SGB Campus activity
was primarily Continuing Education, Academic and
Career Preparation and one postsecondary program,
Personal Support Worker. Today, the John Di Poce
Campus continues to offer the programs above, and
has added seven postsecondary programs, dual credit
courses, School within a College, while also supporting
the community through numerous events, often affiliated
with the Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre.
Lynn and her team have twice been recipients of a
Board of Governors' Award of Distinction. The first was a
Community Partner Award recognizing the successful food
entrepreneurship event that was the launch of the Food
Entrepreneurship Ecosystem in the Georgian Bay Region.
The second was a Team Award for the successful launch of
the Hospitality – Hotel and Resort Operations Management
program at the SGB Campus, geared toward international
student enrolment. Lynn worked collaboratively with
the senior leadership team, hospitality program leaders,
Co-op and Career Services, Student Services, the Segal
International Centre and local community organizations
to ensure the campus was ready to welcome and provide
a high-quality learning experience for the students.
Her advocacy in the community also ensured the
students would be welcome in the region and there
would be housing and jobs available to them. To
honour her contributions to Georgian and the South
Georgian Bay community, a special fundraising initiative
has been established to support the campus Food
Locker, and donations are now being accepted.
