$100,000 to pilot projects identified by faculty and staff to
address challenges.
Congruent to strategy development, is the need to
build a Georgian digital culture to ensure that people
are comfortable with accessing and using leading-edge
technologies. For example, ensuring faculty are prepared
for the introduction of virtual reality into the classroom,
and the suite of tools that accompanies it.
"Essentially what we're doing is acquiring technology and
new approaches for people to experience, to create a
culture change where people feel safe in this environment
and willing to try things whether it's in a teaching capacity
or student service," explains Janet.
Georgian has also introduced a new virtual campus called
iLRN, where members of the Georgian community create
avatars of themselves, and then meet and interact in the
virtual environment.
"Some things we try might not work," acknowledges
Janet. "But that's another key principle in this whole
strategy. We've got to be okay with failing, and learning
from those experiences. That's how we'll figure out what
is truly best for Georgian."
