O Canada
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all of us command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The true north, strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'epée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Coat of arms
Georgian College's coat of arms was created in the spring of 1968. It consists of the shield (or
arms), crest and motto set out according to the rules and customs of heraldry. The coat of arms
includes features that identify the college and the Georgian Bay region.
The colour blue, and blue and white wavy bars, symbolize the waters of the region, while gold
represents the fertile agricultural land in the southern part of the region and the Precambrian
rock to the north. The gold Maple Leaf makes reference to the Arms of the Province of Ontario
and identifies the arms of the college as Canadian.
The three open books represent the three original divisions of the college – applied arts,
business and technology. The open book symbolizes knowledge and education.
The motto "WISELY IMPROVE THE PRESENT" implies the use of experience from the past and
an awareness of the importance of planning for the future. It also indicates the emphasis we
place on improving things in the world today.
