CELEBRATION AND PASSION TRANSFORMING THE ALUMNI EXPERIENCE Georgian alumni are proof that dreams really do come true with passion, persistence and a desire to pay it forward. In this issue, be inspired by our 2019 Premier's Award nominees. They include a renowned chef, entrepreneurs and CEOs making a difference across the world, an award-winning designer, and four-time Paralympian dedicated to giving back. You can read the extraordinary stories of some of our other 82,000+ grads, including Arjun Batra (on our cover) and a group of changemakers and innovators who have built a business from the ground up thanks to support and mentorship from the college. We also celebrate the wrap-up of phase two of our Power of Education campaign. The theme was transforming the student experience and with the help of our generous donors, we have done just that – raising a historic $54 million! We had members recognized throughout the world for their personal and professional achievements, launched a number of new initiatives and events, and our proud family of Georgian graduates grew to more than 82,000 members worldwide. Amongst so many wins, I want to acknowledge two specific achievements that are helping to transform our member engagement. Firstly, our Alumni Association Executive Council was restructured, with three new dedicated positions being introduced. We appointed a Vice Chair to the council to support succession planning, and designated two positions to represent the voices of our Indigenous members and international community. Secondly, our association launched the exclusive Georgian Alumni Network – an online community designed to bring our members together and connect them with the resources we need to be successful. The network includes a job board, events calendar, photo albums, a mentorship platform, communication tools, as well as community and group rooms to support alumni connection and engagement. As I navigate my final year as a member of your Executive Council, I want to remind each of you that there is always a place for you at Georgian, so think about how you would like to stay connected or be involved – our alumni relations team is ready to support you.
