SUPPORTING THE NEXT GENERATION Child of alumni award recipients Laura Montgomery and Ingrid Janssen Each year, the Georgian College Alumni Association Executive Council is assigned the difficult task of selecting two recipients for the Child of Alumni Scholarship, which is provided to students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need, and who are also the children of Georgian alumni. The 2019 recipients of these scholarships have impressive GPAs, and are the children of proud Georgian graduates. Laura Montgomery is a second-year student in the Practical Nursing program at Georgian's Barrie campus, and notes that receiving this scholarship will allow her to focus time on her studies and bring her one step closer to realizing her dream of eventually becoming a registered nurse. Laura is the daughter of Peter Montgomery, an Engineering Technology graduate, class of 1983. The second recipient of this year's scholarship is Ingrid Janssen. Ingrid is a student in Georgian's Paramedic program and notes the impact that receiving this scholarship will have on her financially – helping to alleviate the financial burdens and stress associated with being a full-time student. Ingrid is the daughter of Janice Allen, a graduate of Georgian's Early Childhood Education program, class of 1980.
