INNOVATORS AND ENTREPRENEURS
Georgian is expanding its capacity to help companies deliver a
stronger economic impact across our region.
The college's Research and Innovation department and the Henry
Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre (HBEC) are two important pillars
that are now managed through a single entity called the Department
of Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Dr. Jamie Doran took the helm of the Department of Research,
Innovation and Entrepreneurship in 2019. Sara Bentham is the
Director of HBEC, and Dr. Mira Ray is the Director of Research and
Innovation.
HBEC welcomes innovators and entrepreneurs from across
Central Ontario. It works to incubate student and faculty innovation
and supports new entrepreneurs by providing resources and
mentorship that help them test business ideas, fail in a safe
environment, and launch successful companies.
Small- and medium-sized companies gain direct access to
Georgian's applied research and development experts, and facilities,
and vice versa.
