The two applicants that received scholarships this year have impressive grade point averages, demonstrate financial need, and are the children of proud Georgian graduates. Ashley Bestard is currently a second-year Social Service Worker student at Georgian's Orillia Campus, and says that receiving this scholarship will allow her to focus more time on her studies and spend a little more time with her son, Landon. Ashley adds that being a scholarship recipient has made it easier for her to be both a mother and a student at the same time. Ashley is the daughter of Vicki Terpstra, a nursing graduate, class of 1992. The second recipient of this year's scholarship is Taylor Woods. Taylor graduated from the Advertising and Marketing Communications program in June 2018 and is now pursuing a graduate certificate in Georgian's Event Management program. Being the recipient of the scholarship helped to alleviate some of the financial pressures he experienced while completing his unpaid field placement. Taylor is the child of two proud Georgian graduates. His mother, Karen is a graduate of the Law and Security program (1987) and Georgian's Automotive Marketing program, (1993). His father, Sean is a graduate of the Civil Engineering Technician program (1992) and Civil Engineering – Municipal program (1997). 39 GEORGIANVIEW 2018 GIvING BACK
