AshokaU recognizes educational institutions globally that have embedded social innovation and changemaking into their culture, programming, and operations. The prestigious designation recognizes the leadership of our students and staff across all seven campuses who understand that making social change is vital to our way of life. For example, Georgian has begun its journey by: • Assisting individuals and community organizations in the creation of social enterprises. • Travelling around the world helping others and making frequent trips to the Caribbean to provide health care. • Investing in new apps for policing and food production. Visit ashokau.org to learn more about the organization. Be innovative. Affect change. Make a positive impact in your community. Sparking positive social change Social innovation and changemaking skills focus on developing empathy, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. They also prepare students to add value in the world, regardless of whether they're innovating within existing organizations, or starting their own. OUR STUDENTS Cabinetmaking Techniques students put their skills to work for a good cause by building two tables for Youth Haven, a shelter in Barrie for homeless youth. OUR FACULTY Nicole Norris and Quentin Evans are inspiring the next generation of changemakers through Georgian's Centre for Changemaking and Social Innovation. They oversee students in the Community Impact Lab in Orillia and work with community partners to help innovate community services and bridge gaps. OUR ALUMNI Georgian alumnus J.
